About Me

Day-to-Day Details

I'm a hacker-singer-nomad who placates my insomnia by learning, crafting and exploring the more curious side of technology (see Whitespace...or not, I suppose). I work as a Developer Advocate for Google+. In the past, I've worked as a software engineer, a researcher, a graduate student and a technical evangelist. I follow the fun!

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from Bryn Mawr College and a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Rochester. Though my degrees are both in Computer Science, I started my education with the intention of becoming an archaeologist. This resurfaces every time I see an Indiana Jones movie.

Technology Interests

The technological landscape holds so many different interesting opportunities. If I were to have to chose just one, I'd be indecisive forever. Luckily, I can remain a dabbler:

  • Social and collaboration
  • Clustering (an aspect of machine learning)
  • Accessibility of technology
  • Advancement of women in technology
  • Robotics
  • Computer science in K-12 education
  • Unusual modes of cryptography

The Extracurriculars

I travel as much as I can, and still hope to do a backpacking trip across New Zealand one day. I experiment with cooking, and every now and then even follow a recipe or two. I still go out in search of new music, whether in the form of CDs and records or in the form of a good concert.
